If you missed the first meeting for the NVAEA Art Club PD, you are in luck. This is your recap of the events that took place. It is a bi-weekly meeting for one hour, where we get together and discuss art prompts and projects to do as artists and art educators! Our newest professional development member Megan Roadifer has graciously put together these wonderful online classes where we get to discuss our creative flow and actually DO ART! There is no grade, or judgement, just art educators being artists amongst our peers! You may receive credit/ CU's for license renewal for these classes and create art while in the meantime! Come play, and create with us, it's not too late to join!

The first art project to create has some criteria, you must use:
Media: Watercolor (additional medium can be used as well)
Theme: Technology
Colors to use: Split-Complementary
Any Size, can use 2-D/3-D elements incorporated into project

The second meeting will be August 10th from 5-6pm (mid-cycle review of first project)

     We had our first Annual Membership Meeting on May 19th. If we missed you, perhaps we will catch you at a future meeting. The meeting gave us an opportunity to meet with our new President and President-Elect and hear their vision for the future and what is at the top of their lists. Chad shared his vision for an artist in residence program and looking into grants to help NVAEA build support for Visual Arts teachers and for community engagement.

     Kimiyo shared her hopes to encourage and build our membership base as well as plans to build committees and opportunities for the organization grow monetarily aside from our yearly conference. Both want to continue organizing our non-profit association through establishing governance in order to provide transparency and develop a thriving professional development program. Stay tuned if you want to join the group going to New York next year for the National Conference in March. We will be posting an opportunity to be informed of others making the trip to NY if you would like to be included in the group shared information.

     Announced was the Nevada “Juxtapose” conference on November 6-8, 2026. We are working with UNR to procure a site for Friday’s speaker and reception, Saturday’s workshops and Sunday’s business meeting and activity.

     Megan Roadifer, Professional Development Chair, shared her plans and ideas for participation in creating a community through different learning means and professional development. She is first working on creating an NVAEA Art Club that would meet monthly to work on a given prompt as an individual project to then share the following month, if able this could be a group that meets in person or via zoom for those who do not live in the vicinity.
